Ancient Colombians were some of the first goldsmiths of the Americas. Their goldworking traditions spread north to Central America and throughout Colombia in seven major zones from A.D. 300-1600: Tairona, Sinu, Quimbaya, Calima, Tolima, Muisca and Narino. The earrings we carry are reproductions of originals from the Gold Museum of santa Fe de Bogota and are pewter castings with 24 karat gold plating. The Costa Rican items are reproductions inspired by the originals in the Gold Museum in San Jose, CR.

We have three styles of pendants. Two are reproductions of nose rings worn by ancient chiefs and other important people. The poporo may have been a burial urn or a container for mixing.

Our bracelets are based on motifs of pre-Columbian cultures of present day Colombia. Small jaguars are featured in the jaguar bracelet. The jaguar design was very popular as the jaguar was their most powerful animal.
